By signing up for studio membership, you agree to the following rules & policies within the studio

Studio Rules

General

  1. Never let anyone into the studio. If they are allowed in, they have a code.
  2. Never enter/leave through the backdoor (sign is posted)
  3. Ensure the front door is shut when entering/exiting. It is an old building.
  4. Do not touch anyone else's things without their permission
  5. Never touch the kiln
  6. Only staff can play music aloud (workshops/classes/events)
  7. Do not rearrange storefront items from where they lay

Studio Cleanliness

  1. Leave all equipment as you found it or cleaner.
  2. Wheels must have splash pans completely washed after every use.
  3. Dip glaze washout bucket must be completely changed out after every use
  4. Do not leave loose tools in the sink to "soak". Put them back where you found them.
  5. If you make a mess, please clean it up.
  6. Respect the restroom, notify staff of any eldritch horrors that potentially arise in the restroom.
  7. Clay cannot go down the bathroom sink, please wash clay hands in main sink, it is filtered.

Equipment

  1. Don't modify any equipment.
  2. If you are a lefty, please swap the wheels back to righty when finished.
  3. You must use canvas for the slab roller
  4. Be sure to scrape the wedging table clean when finished.
  5. Only clay in the wall extruder
  6. Please put back hair dryers when finished.
  7. No heat guns allowed in the studio!

Glazing & Firing

  1. All pieces must be wiped 1/4" from the bottom to be fired.
  2. All pieces must have initials or makers mark present to be fired
  3. Flux glazes require kiln cookies (provided by you)
  4. Kiln cookies cannot be large square plates, they need to conform to your piece roughly enough that it does not waste space in the kiln.
  5. Only cone 5-6 items may go into our kilns
  6. If you continuously have pieces run and damage kiln shelving, you will be entitled to reimburse us for the kiln shelf ruined.
  7. No leaded glazes
  8. All jar glazes must be poured onto paint palettes. You cannot dip your brush directly into jars.
  9. Do not leave the lids off of any brush glazes
  10. Be mindful when placing your glaze items on the to-be-fired shelf so that way your glaze doesn't ruin someone else's'
  11. If you submit a large piece to be fired, it may take more time to fit it into our kiln loads.
  12. Do not cross contaminate dip glazes. Thoroughly rinse the glaze mixing drill when you are going from one glaze to another.

Storefront Rules

Studio members may purchase items up front. Simply checkout online and remove it from the store front. We rely on an honesty policy, but the cameras are there for a reason!

Members may sell pottery they make up front!

Rules for selling up front:

  • Piece must be physically safe and free from razor sharp glaze
  • Piece must be pre-priced by the maker
  • You agree to a 80/20 profit split with the store.
  • Piece must have final approval from management.
