Studio Grand Opening
Share
Hello all,
Thank you for your continued patience. We're glad you've stuck it out this long with us. We are awaiting a few final approvals at the new studio before we can open. Without going into too many details, it's been really tough navigating this build out at the new space, but we feel it will all be totally worth it.
We are comfortable relaying to you all that we'll be opening our doors at the beginning of July. Exact date TBD, but it'll be very very soon.
Here is a list of things to expect at the studio launch period:
- We'll be sharing a lot on social media to hype the grand opening date.
- There is a grand opening party. There will be a BBQ buffet, and beer. Complimentary of course.
- We'll be launching a slew of classes to kick off the studio opening.
- Tons of new store items including aprons, new tools, new glazes, and new clays to try. (including our own.)
- Agile changes to any and all studio processes - basically we'll be monitoring what works and doesn't work with the current studio setup and make swift changes if something just isn't working. For example, let's say we notice that the kiln shelving area just isn't super intuitive, so we rework the labeling on that to make it easier to understand.
- Piloting more open hours for the store, and more date night slots.
What you can do to help us:
Reshare our social media posts to your stories/feed, and please tell your friends and families that we have super fun date nights they can try!
Staff Lineup:
Caroline will be assisting with studio/store management.
Callie will helping us out by cleaning a few days a week.
Chance Taylor will be returning to teach specialty classes.
Alex Hawes will be resuming his classes.
Katelyn will be resuming and beginning more beginner courses
Additional items:
We will be offering pottery makers mark making services as well. He can laser engrave ultra fine detail into acrylic or into soft metal. More info on this as we do a cost analysis on cost to produce, but we estimate each makers mark will be in the $50 price range for large stamps, and a much cheaper price for stamps smaller than a quarter.
We're also prototyping a ceramic tile bat system. If you are a tool tester in the studio, we'll reach out about where to find our prototype tools for testing. Your feedback is valuable.
We'll also now carrying Amaco, Mayco, and Coyote glazes in stock at the store.
We will be launching a very limited space Raku firing class in partnership with Fischman Gallery down the street.
In closing:
We really hate that this build out took so long. There were so many things that were out of our hands, whether it was the architects taking 3.5 months to finish our plans, or the city taking forever to approve us to start work, or just the plumber not showing up for 3 weeks to run a single pipe so we could have concrete poured. We are, however, extremely thankful to all the volunteers, and all of you patient enough to endure the wait. We hope you get into the space here in a few short weeks and are blown away at the quality and attention to detail.
- Chase & Katelyn
